In 1941 two Bible College students held a week of meetings in East Greensboro.  From that meeting, a nucleus was formed to begin a new church.  A chicken house was donated and cleaned up; the church was named after Mr. Woodard who donated the small property.  Over the next few years the church grew and built two buildings.

Through the years the community went down hill, but the church family stuck together.  The need for a safer environment was realized, the property was put up for sale, and the church moved to a temporary location while the present facilities were constructed.  

In October, 1998 the church relocated to the building the church family constructed themselves.  The corporate name was changed to match the community name.  The church has begun to grow again and is progressing well.  Several thousand homes are slated for construction in the immediate area; much of the county’s new home construction is within a few miles of our location.

That the local Church is composed of regenerated, baptized believers, voluntarily united together for the purpose of worship, edification, fellowship of believers, spiritual growth and service.

It has been commissioned by Christ to propagate the Gospel unto the uttermost parts of the earth.

That the local Church has absolute right of self-government, free from the interferences of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations; and that the one and only Superintendent is Christ, through the Holy Spirit.

That in all matter of membership, of policy, of Church government, and of benevolence, the will of the Church is final.

The Ordinances.  We believe that Christ gave only two ordinances to the Church to be observed “till He come”:

The Lord’s Supper.  It was left us as an ordinance by the Lord Himself (Matthew 26:26-28; Mark 14:22-24; Luke 22:19-20; I Corinthians 11:23-25) for a memorial of His death until He comes, and should not be taken unadvisedly, but with the examination of one’s life.

 Believer’s Baptism.  We practice baptism because of the example of our Lord Jesus Christ while He was here on earth (Matthew 3:13) and because of the command given by our Lord to baptize (Matthew 28:19).  We accept the Scriptural mode of baptism to be immersion.

The Second Coming.  We believe in the personal, premillennial return of Jesus.  He will come:

For His saints to gather them unto Himself;

With His saints to judge the nations and to establish His Messianic Kingdom.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just to eternally dwell in the glory of His presence.  We believe in the bodily resurrection of the unjust unto judgment and everlasting conscious punishment in the Lake of Fire.           

Separation.  We believe it seems good to call the attention of the believers to the Scriptural teaching which requires of them separation from all worldly practices and separation to a wholehearted devotion unto His service and ministry.

Missions.  Because all men everywhere without Christ are lost and bound for eternal punishment (Romans 1:18-20), and because men cannot believe in Him of whom they have not heard (Romans 10:14), we believe that we are debtors to all men and have the responsibility of giving the Gospel.  Jesus left us the command that we should be witnesses for Him (Acts 1:8), and should take the Good News of The Gospel to every place where men are to be found (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-48; John 20:21).  We believe that to carry out this command we must ourselves be witnesses by life and word to all lost men about us, and we must support by prayer and financial aid those who go out under sound churches and missionary agencies to represent us in other parts of the world.

Church Covenant

Having been led, as we believe by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this Church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.

We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale of, and use of, destructive drugs or intoxicating drinks as a beverage; to shun pornography; to be zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Saviour.

We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and Christian courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Saviour to secure it without delay.

We moreover engage that when we remove from this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
